Many people in PC land haven't heard of this game, those of you that venture into PS3 land probably already love this game... OK, the story, developed by one guy, Jonathan Mak, and published by Sony on the Playstation Network. I don't know how it got onto steam but Valve again has made me smile. The game borrows lots from many games, Geometry Wars, Robotron, Smash TV and Audiosurf. Sorry quite a bit of name dropping there! Graphically it makes me think this is a flash game that Stan Lee got his paint brush to. It is a game that combines the shooting from Geometry Wars with a puzzle element, you don't have to shoot everything straight away. This game uses the arrow keys and WASD and is pretty hard - it will either turn you WASD skills into Jedi-like reflexes or will make you destroy your keyboard. Me, I'm going for the control pad Indie games FTW! Is this the way listening to music is going, Albums with game play? Enough from me I'm going to play, let the experts take over and watch 9 minutes from the 1up show about Everyday Shooter Check it out on Steam http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4640 http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4640 Fri, 09 May 2008 14:20:43GMT Forum Post Everyday Shooter comes to PC!!! http://www.efragz.net/images/rss_blue.gif http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4640 Q6600 cooling Best q6600 coolers?? http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4638 http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4638 Fri, 09 May 2008 14:20:43GMT Forum Post Q6600 cooling http://www.efragz.net/images/rss_blue.gif http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4638 Logitech Cordless S510 Mini Review [b:88f74c5292][u:88f74c5292]Logitech Cordless S510 Mini Review[/u:88f74c5292][/b:88f74c5292] Well I've got myself a new shiny thing, and as with all new shiny things I get, I researched the hell out of it first, and I'm glad I did :). If you're a regular on Vent you've probably become well acquainted with the b1llyb0b smack regularly thrown my way regarding the loudest keyboard known to man, and how I need to get a) a better keyboard, and b) a better mic. Well, I've done both :). The S510 comes with a cordless mouse, but it's a bog standard affair and I've already got an MX Revolution (which I can't recommend enough), so I won't mention it here. The keyboard itself is an interesting piece of kit. In terms of categorising it, it's not quite a desktop keyboard, and it's not quite a laptop keyboard either. It's got an extremely slim profile, and slightly more compact style than a full size desktop keyboard, without entering into the "cramped" territory of a laptop layout. See pictures below, modelled next to a standard BIC biro. Thickness with BIC Next to my old keyboard Keyboard - That's my MX Revolution next to it, NOT the included mouse Combined with the inbuilt palmrest, it feels lot more natural on your wrists since your hands are barely angled upwards at all for typing (although there are extendable feet for those of you who fancy it). The keys themselves are again a hybrid between laptop and keyboard in terms of height, allowing for definite presses, but not in a clunky way. The action of them is not "typewriter" style, and is not some of the spongey unpleasantness that you find on cheap keyboards, but rather a defined action with a bit of cushioning, resulting in a nice crisp feel, but at the same time very little noise produced. The usual media controls are present - Play/Pause, Stop, Skip, Volume, Shuffle, Mute, Homepage, as well as a couple of Zoom and Rotate controls, and a Standby button (recessed thankfully, so no risk of accidently pressing it). As with all Logitech equipment, I'd STRONGLY recommend you get hold of UberOptions from http://www.mstar.net/users/rlowens/ in order to be able to reassign any special button to anything you desire. The build quality feels as solid as I've come to expect from Logitech - there's a nice weight to the keyboard, and nothing feels lose or inaccurate. Styling is also appealing. With the legs down, this is possible the most immovable keyboard I've ever used, it literally just sticks to my desk, so no annoying keyboard sliding happens. It's a shame there isn't an Email button on the left with the Homepage button, since there's space, and the fact that the programmable function keys along the row of F keys have to be toggled rules them out for me, since I use the F keys too much. These are minor gripes about potential additional features though, and I've yet to find any actual faults or problems with the keyboard. Here it is people, the legendary card itself. I was working hard on my dissertation when I suddenly spotted this: [img:d14e7b83c2]http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u181/hteragareth/Voodoo_5_6000.jpg[/img:d14e7b83c2] The 3dfx Voodoo 5 6000! This card is so epic, it has it's own power supply (Voodoo volts power supply)! This card is so epic, it has an Intel chipset! This card is so epic, it has it's own Wikipedia article. [img:d14e7b83c2]http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u181/hteragareth/voodoo56000.jpg[/img:d14e7b83c2] Another revision, with the GPUs baring fans and arranged differently, each one of those powerhouses running at a staggering 166mhz! Seriously though, this thing was a monster, it dwarfs any modern card with it's length but barely touches the GeForce 3 for performance... Whatever happened to 3dfx? They had the best graphics, sorry, 3D accelerator cards known to man, they just started to fall behind at some point, gradually growing weaker and weaker until nVidia decided to buy them. Anyone familiar with the politics/history of it? http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4635 http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4635 Fri, 09 May 2008 14:20:43GMT Forum Post Behold the power of the quad GPU card! http://www.efragz.net/images/rss_blue.gif http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4635 Trackmania Nations Forever [img:a9e8704c60]http://www.efragz.net/images/Misc/trackmainanfbanner.jpg[/img:a9e8704c60] [b:a9e8704c60]Trackmania Nations Forever[/b:a9e8704c60] Free online racer, yes totally free, no micro transactions, no special upgrades to give you the edge, everyone is on a level playing field. You might think that if it's free it will look rubbish and be broken; I have to say it looks gorgeous, bright colours, spot on lighting and it handles just right. The aim of the game is complete the track in the best time; you earn bronze, silver or gold medals depending on your time. In the single player flavour you race set tracks and the more medals you earn the higher up the rankings you will climb in your chosen county. I love watching the numbers fall as I climb the welsh rankings, British rankings and then seemingly stand still in the world rankings. This all sounds simple and probably boring, but.... You can race against your fellow eFraggerz online and move up the online leader boards. Ask Rick | Ajax who his daddy is :) No contact racing so it is down to you how well you do, not how touchy touchy Spade or GrumpyOldMan are feeling (race 'em in Flatout 2 for a full demo) :) The tracks range from really short, 15 second courses to laps of a 2 minute endurance circuits so there is something to suit all attention spans. You can be subjected to gravity defying loops, driving up walls, massive jumps, technical corners and dirt sections (yes it is like your Tamiya on a bmx track). It’s an arcade racer so Kazunori Yamauchi will be going elsewhere, no Gran Turismo realism, just fling your car around the track. It is incredibly addictive and will keep you racing a track over and over to get the converted gold medal. It comes with a track editor. Can you create a Rhinostopper uber track to make your friends cry? Easy to use, build your track, validate it and set some times. Customizable cars, add your own paint work and graphics. Challenges, you can set a challenge for your fellow eFraggers, Monkey has started the ball rolling, uber kudos if you can n00b him silly. I know most of you are playing this at the moment but if you missed it, it can be downloaded through steam or as a standalone installer. Well worth a try, it’s [b:a9e8704c60]free![/b:a9e8704c60] http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4633 http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4633 Fri, 09 May 2008 14:20:43GMT Forum Post Trackmania Nations Forever http://www.efragz.net/images/rss_blue.gif http://www.efragz.net/./forum/viewtopic.php?t=4633 Price for Pc from rhino??
